Film

‘Highest Grossing Filipino Movie’ & ‘Phenomenal Star’. These ‘awards’ are connected to Vice Ganda in view of his movies. Though dating back to 2007-2008, he started just with minor roles in local comedy movies. He was usually seen throwing one or two comic lines or having a few sequences in these movies. But, as years progressed, movie producers and movie-goers started noticing his natural skill in acting and in comedy. He was then given and seen in movies wherein he plays as one of the main actors or has the major role. His breakout movie is Petrang Kabayo (2010) and after this, he began having ‘highest grossing Filipino films’ such as The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin, Sisterakas, etc. His acting skill was also stretched and made more visible as he juggled with different movie genres (action, heavy drama, etc.) and as he played four different roles or characters in Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy. Last June 2015, the 46th Box Office Entertainment Awards of the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation recognized Vice Ganda as the ‘Phenomenal Box-Office Star’ for his movie, ‘The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin.’

Television

Vice Ganda started small in television by having minor roles in teleseryes and guesting in different variety and noontime shows. Eventually, he became a part of the variety show in ABS-CBN, It’s Showtime (2009). He and the other morning show hosts made a mark in the morning time slot which made the ABS-CBN management to move them to the noontime slot, opposite the longest-running noontime show in the country. Vice Ganda continued in being a consistent ‘trending-maker’ in their new time slot that he was given his own show, Gandang Gabi, Vice! (2011). These two flagship shows of Vice Ganda is still up-and-running and a consistent rater in their own respective time slots. He even had his own ‘advice-giving segment’ in It’s Showtime around February 2015.
